The Garden Room at SAID Business School is a brand new extension to the existing main building.
Designed by architects Dixon Jones, who had previously designed the school’s main building and executive education centre, the Garden Room can facilitate up to sixty people for both corporate and private events.
Estates Director Mat Davies wanted to source a roof window that would not sit too proud of the new copper roof, not realizing that he could infact specify a roof window that would sit completely flush with the roof material.
Specified for the scheme were four Studio Designer Conservation Rooflights. Each rooflight is made up of three CR15 roof windows each measuring 1021mm x 1635mm.
As well as providing vast amounts of natural light, the middle rooflight of each set has been fitted with a motor to provide ventilation. Glazing bars were removed from the specification to minimise sight lines. Finally, each rooflight was painted in traffic light grey to further blend in with the new copper roof.
