  • Ensure effective management and development of team against agreed operational and strategic aims, including regular 121 meetings with team.
  • To coach and develop team members to maximise their potential.
  • Develop a working environment for employees and co-owners to offer new ideas and to challenge current working practices with alternative proposals.
  • Encourage and promote an employee owned and values-led culture.

Bespoke products and technical design service that our customers value.

  • To manage the successful identification and understanding of the customer's needs and wants for individually designed rooflights / roof windows.
  • To manage the design, development and detailing of feasible rooflighting solutions and their associated products for manufacture to customer specification.
  • To manage the successful delivery (quality, cost and time) all bespoke projects through the bespoke design and engineering team.
  • To maximise the ‘perceived value’ of TRC bespoke projects when compared to competitor products.
  • To manage the provision of a high-level technical advice / project support service to internal and external customers.

Compliant products and processes that support the customer journey for bespoke products.

  • Ensure all bespoke design solutions are developed in line with company quality standards and applicable legislation / standards / health and safety requirements.
  • To manage the production of bespoke technical literature in line with customer, company and legislative requirements.
  • To work within the values and procedures of the company quality system.
  • To liaise with other divisional managers to ensure application of current design standards to bespoke design solutions.
  • To liaise with other divisional managers to ensure the successful delivery (quality, cost and time) of all bespoke projects.

Enhanced products and services through championing continuous improvement.

  • To obtain stakeholder feedback and deliver operational / design improvements as required.
  • To provide feedback to other divisional managers regards bespoke product designs on behalf of the customer.
  • Oversee verification of new design features through effective prototyping.

Qualifications - Essential

  • Degree qualified in Product Design, Industrial Design, Engineering Design or similar discipline.

Experience - Essential

  • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience within a relevant professional environment.

Skills – Essential

  • Managing / supervising teams / groups.
  • Managing projects from design to assembly.
  • A good working knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD software.
  • A technical background with knowledge of sheet metal fabrications.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to identify customer’s needs and understand, interpret and communicate technical information.
  • Competent IT skills – in particular MS Office 2000 or later (Word, Excel & Outlook).

Skills – Desirable

  • A good working knowledge of 2D CAD software.
  • A good knowledge of the construction industry in particular rooflight / roof window manufacturers’ products.
  • Knowledge of building regulations and rooflight / roof window legislation.

Review

The Bespoke Designs Manager duties will normally be agreed by annual consultation between the Operations Director and the individual, and shall take into consideration the outcome of the company appraisal scheme including issues relating to company objectives.
