When reading magazines costs money
This is not a piece about subscription costs, but about temptation – and when it is worth succumbing.
The latest RIBA Journal had such a wonderful review of Patrick Baty’s book The Anatomy of Colour that I simply had to buy it.
It is subtitled ‘The story of heritage paints and pigments’ but it is hard to classify. It has old colour wheels and also colour charts, photos of wonderfully decorated rooms and also great detail about the paints that were used and why. It is hard to define except as a magnificent work of scholarship – it is part visual pornography and part geek’s delight and totally a pleasure.
