Where does the intriguing drawing shown here come from? This plan of ‘Mytown’ is on the floor of the British Library’s magnificent exhibition Maps and the Twentieth Century’, which looks at everything from the first map of the dark side of the moon to folksy drawings of Yorkshire for British Rail. Many of the maps are fascinating in themselves, and also they show us how we have interpreted our world, and sometimes deliberately misinterpreted it.

Who designed it? The printed information and the website don’t say. The cartographers and the artists rightly get full credit. What about the poor exhibition designers.
