Timber plys its trade at V&A

London's Victoria & Albert Museum is planning a great-looking exhibition called 'Plywood: Material of the Modern World'. Opening on 5 July, it has, as you would expect, some classic furniture by the Eames and by Alvar Aalto, but also the British de Havilland Mosquito aircraft, whch played such a vital role in World War Two, and buildings such as the 2012 ice-skating shelter by Patkau Architects, shown here.

Plywood is one of those materials we can all too easily take for granted, so it is a great to have an exhibition that reminds us just how exciting it can be, and about the vital role that it plays and has played in our lives. See you there!
