Case Study
The Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh
Architects: Adam Dudley Architects
This brand new facility in Edinburgh bridges the gap between historical and contemporary architecture, and benefits from natural light provided by ten Special Plateau rooflights and five Conservation Rooflights® installed in the stainless steel roof. Designed by Adam Dudley Architects, the new hall houses the College's Surgical Training Centre.
Principal architect Adam Dudley commented: "The focal point of this project is the polished granite entrance and terrace enclosure emerging from the stainless steel roof. Designing a structure that looks towards the future but doesn't jar against the existing architectural environment is a fine line to tread, so the flexibility offered by the Rooflight Company helped us to achieve the balance we were looking for, while providing a bright and airy feel to the interior."
