Case Study

Barn conversion, near Salisbury

When Dr Peter Claydon decided to convert his Listed oak frame barn in Wiltshire into a liveable residence, there was more than the issue of planning at stake. Says Peter Claydon: "We knew that we didn't want Velux roof windows, simply because they would stand out against the slate roof. The barn is right next to the A27 and very visible from the road so we wanted the rooflights to be as sensitive to the roof as possible and attractive to passers-by."

What attracted Peter to neo™ Fortecom was the frameless appearance and the fact that, when installed, they would sit flush with the slate roof so none of the window surround would be visible. Peter has been completely happy with the result. He says: "There is no other rooflight that could have combined such clean modern lines on a traditional slate roof with oak inner linings matched up to the oak rafters. The simplicity of the remote control opening mechanisms that are concealed within the frame produce an uncluttered and simple window."
