Violin Factory

Case Study

Violin Factory, London

Architects: McDonnell Associates

Combining contemporary design with understated luxury, the Violin Factory is an award-winning project which featured in the Channel 4 programme, ‘Grand Designs'. Undertaking the role of architect developer, McDonnell Associates created a perfect urban living space out of a derelict Victorian warehouse. A major problem was how to bring light into the building, so architect Louise McDonnell selected two 1.5 sq m rooflights to flood light down into the bedroom and bathroom below. The rooflights were chosen for their slim profiles which suited the contemporary interior while still being in keeping with the surrounding architecture.
