Case Study
Clay Fields, Elmswell, Suffolk
RHM Architects designed this award-winning sustainable project consisting of 26 affordable homes after winning an RIBA open competition in 2006. The brief to the Rooflight Company was to design and manufacture frameless rooflights in order to maximise natural daylight and passive solar gain.
The rooflights were also required to create visual interest and impact. A total of 81 specially designed steel
rooflights in 7 different sizes (varying from 1.2 x 2m to 0.5 x 0.85m) were installed on south-facing
elevations at pitches of 780 and 180. All the blind and electric opening mechanisms are concealed.
