  • To provide a greater understanding of the history and development of top lighting in architecture and the role it has played in the past
  • To provide inspiration and an insight into the quality and aesthetics of top lighting and the impact it has on the building
  • To demonstrate through case studies how the original principles of top-lighting have been applied to projects including refurbishment, linking old with new and contemporary architecture
  • To demonstrate the positive impact of natural light (and top lighting in particular) on a building in terms of well being to the people who live there

Learning outcomes

  • Delegates will have a greater understanding of the history and development of top lighting in architecture and the role it has played in the past
  • Delegates will come away with ideas on how to apply top lighting in new or refurbished buildings resulting in a positive impact on the building
  • Delegates will be appraised of data on the positive aspects of natural on the people who live in our buildings
